The IT industry is growing very fast nowdays and they want employees with a specific attributes to work for them. I will like to talk about some of the main attributes they are looking from an employee.
Qualification
Technical knowledge is valued by employers because it
shows you have the knowledge to do a specific job. Some employers valued technical knowledge
very highly, because you must be capable and have a technical knowledge to use
the company`s equipment to do the job.
Experience
Experience is valued by employers because it shows
that you have the ability to do the job. Many jobs require you to have some experience,
a previous employer stating that you have had some experience with the job is a
good way proving you have experience.
Good working procedures
Good working procedures are valued by employers
because it shows you can follow company rules and keep the company running
smoothly. Employers don`t want any
disturbances to the company`s schedule and they want tasks completed on time,
therefore they set down these working procedures for employees to follow.
Health and Safety
Health and Safety is valued by employers because it
shows you have the ability to conduct yourself in a safe way and take care of
people around you. You must be aware of
the Health & Safety at Work act 1974, Some employers value it very highly,
because when you are handling specialist equipment, they need to know you are
going to handle it in a safe manner.
Security
Security is valued by employers because data theft is
the most commonly found security breach as employees details are stored on
company`s computers, you must be aware of your responsibilities, respect in the
work place and on the internet.
Work attitude is valued by employers because an
employer isn`t looking someone who has a bad attitude towards their job. Having a good attitude towards your work
keeps you motivated and helps you keep up the good work, if you are unhappy and
have negative attitude towards your work it can also affect other people around
you, it can cause problems with you and your employer then lose your job.
Organisational skills are valued by employers because they want someone who is well organised and prepared to do the job correctly the first time, meet deadlines and prioritise their tasks, for the IT Technician job, you must be organise to serve the customers and adhere to schedules, also out of hours working will be required, so you must be well organised to do that job.
